A New Pocket

Ocean is like many 3 year old boys, I'm sure, newly potty trained, full of questions and exploration and discovery. He loves simple things like leaves, animals, jumping in puddles, pennies ("moneys" in his lingo), sticks, rocks, bugs, trains and dinosaurs. This is a story of discovery: a new pocket!

Ocean recently came out of the bathroom with his underwear up and his pants missing. (In the urgency to go pee, he is compelled to fling his pants across the bathroom, an act I do not understand.) At this point he announces his newest discovery: "I have a new pocket!" This statement calls for attention: "Look at my new pocket." And indeed he has found a new pocket; located smack in the front of his underwear. "What's in my pocket?" "Why do I have a pocket?" and the questions continue to flow.

Well, as you can guess, I was just laughing! While Caleb politely ask him to take his hand out of his pocket as he was stretching out his underwear. I'm still waiting for the inevitable: the storage of "moneys" or rocks or twigs or string in his new pocket!

Thanks for the comment. I do remember those T-shirts, I wish I could have gotten one when the Junkies were still around. Thrift Core 4 Life!

hello jen! i love your pocket story! a little boy friend left his undies at our place and eowyn tried them on, and now only wears 'boys undies'! however, she hasn't yet investigated the pockets on them ... which, unlike ocean's pocket, have no purpose other than to collect twigs and rocks....
